At SEO Rush LTD, we have been asked the question countless times: What is SEO? It’s not that people don’t understand that SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. It’s more that they’re a little fuzzy on what SEO can actually do for their business.
So, what is SEO?
That’s rather like asking how long is a piece of string. SEO, sadly, is still different things to different people.

If you do hear these words, my advice is run. No one can guarantee you a page-one ranking with Google except Google themselves–and they’re not going to so get over it.

Getting to the top of a search for your particular keywords is hard work: whether you do it, or an SEO consultant does it is the only ‘option.’
So what are your keywords? These are the words that might be used to describe your business, and if you get this bit right, they’ll also be exactly the same words that your customers are typing into Google when they’re looking for your products. So this stage is critical: get it wrong and your customers will be going somewhere else, or you’ll have people turning up on your site looking for stuff you don’t have. Either is disastrous.
Really good keyword research can make your business hundreds of times more effective, and that’s even if you’re not on page one of Google for your main key phrases. I’ll elaborate on that elsewhere, for now, let’s get back to SEO.
Assuming your site’s structure is OK, the next part after the keyword research is creating content. This is also a lot better if it’s done by an expert because although we need to include the keywords in judicious amounts, we don’t want the copy to be stilted or unnatural. If it is, Google won’t like and neither will the people you hope are going to be your customers. That’s why so many people say that Content is King.
